# Setup Packer on Azure

```
sudo apt-get install unzip
cd ~/apps
wget https://releases.hashicorp.com/packer/1.2.4/packer_1.2.4_linux_amd64.zip
# On Unix systems, ~/packer or /usr/local/packer is generally good,
# depending on whether you want to restrict the install to just your user
# or install it system-wide. On Windows systems, you can put it wherever you'd like.
# it unzips the executable binary into the recommended folder for all users
sudo unzip packer_1.2.4_linux_amd64.zip -d /usr/local
# open the .bashrc file for editing
vi ~/.bashrc
# add the following content in the file
export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/packer
# refresh your shell
source ~/.bashrc
# verify that the path has packer
echo $PATH
# you should see some output telling you how to use the command when you run
/usr/local/packer
```

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://shoppinpal.gitbook.io/docs-shoppinpal-com/appendix/setup-packer-on-azure.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
